bringing home baby

we’ve had HOBBES home for a whole week! and boy does it feel like a lot longer than that! i think i prepared myself enough for sleepless nights and puppy habits that its been (dare i say it) easier than i expected? he sleeps through the night, is getting the hang of house training, loves to sleep on beach towels, loves to chew (surprise!), hates his crate, is learning basic commands, and loves to sleep on us. He likes chewing on sticks and pinecones, gets tired quickly, and loves barbie hair.

hobbes seems to really fit in with us and we are so happy to have him. he weighed 21 lbs the day after we brought him home at his first vet checkup. (at 9 weeks!) he is now 10 weeks and 2 days and definitely seems bigger already. ive been really impressed by how he tolerates being squeezed, held, poked, woken-up, etc etc. everyone loves him so much.

35

I turned 35 on July 1st.

Surreal!

I felt loved. Thank you family and friends!

today

One very skilled multi-tasking boy.
One aspiring acrobat.
One swinging baby who cries every time her mom tries to swing.

Lately…. (covid edition)

Here we are in mid-June! School “officially” ended June 11th for Jackson. We said goodbye to preschool for Maggie with a social-distanced parade in May and then an individual meet-up with her teachers. A lot of feelings for sure. I feel pretty sad about the way preschool ended for Maggie. It’s very strange. It is all very strange. We are still not really going anywhere except for the pool. Thank goodness for the pool, it gives us a sense of normalcy.

Lately, we are about: popsicles, screen time, smoothies, walks (and more walks!), food, new baseball gloves, the pool, yoga, scooters, (finally) using our fire pit, morning snuggles in mommy and daddy’s bed, and coping with our big feelings.

I want to remember what these days are like for us. The peaceful, the contentious, the fun, and the frustrating.

Looking forward to some fun things on the horizon.
