fancy breakfast, climbing a fallen tree at the park, a new swing, bath bubbles, and so much play outside.
All posts in jackson at play
jackson, willa, hobbes, and me went for a nice fall hike today. we tried out a new spot in duke forest. it was nice for letting hobbes go off leash and practicing his manners and things. willa especially enjoys “blue sky” and the “wind feel good”. willa enjoyed collecting acorns and leaves before riding in the ergo, which she also enjoys very much thankfully.
despite a….frustrating…start trying to find each other after parking at different parking lots, we had a great time hiking and exploring johnson mills nature preserve the other day with jean and the kids. i really love finding new outdoor spots around durham, and there are so many! when i stop and think about it, woods and water seem to be our favorite escape.
Not the most glamorous or well-shot photo but I want to remember what it’s like to be home with all three. We got outside to play despite being a little chilly (everyone was excited-well not Willa- to wear their winter hats that I had finally found) and basically it was a really nice, normal, nothing exciting but sweet afternoon together followed by a yummy dinner. These are the days!
i want to remember tonight.
we all went to a movie with E this afternoon and the boys and girls drove separately.
by the time jackson and travis got home with some errands after the movie, i had put willa to bed and maggie was zonked out on the couch.
jackson was reading on his bed when i asked him if he wanted to go on a walk with me.
he almost always does.
we changed, grabbed some popsicles and walked around the block.
our walk turned into catching lightning bugs in the backyard and passing the soccer ball.
after we came in he found me reading on my bed and asked if he could join.
i just want to remember.
